The programme, which began on October 2, 2014, promotes cleanliness with the aim of raising living standards throughout the nation and creating a “Clean and Green India.” One of the biggest campaigns in the nation is this one. As one of the most populous, filthy, and unclean nations in the world, India, this programme serves as a vital goal to realise a new vision of India. The Clean India Mission includes all levels and types of towns, villages, and cities.

Swachh Bharat Urban and Swachh Bharat Rural are further sub-divisions of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. Swachh Bharat Urban sought to improve the cleanliness of every city. To assist in the cleanup of the plastic and metal garbage, dustbins were delivered to every home. More public restrooms were built by the government in urban areas.
