Subject Need to harness noise pollution

Sir/Ma’am

Through the columns of your esteemed newspaper, I want to draw the attention of the concerned authorities to the noise pollution caused by people.

The noise caused by marriage processes, DJ during wedding receptions, loud music from religious congregations and other gatherings are all harmful for us. It is especially harmful for the older generation and also the students preparing for their final examinations.

The municipal and other concerned authorities are giving permissions for various functions. So, the law enforcing authorities, i.e the police, must act in unison to ensure that the volume of such noise remains within reasonable limits. Similarly, these noises must stop at night too. People who break the rules must be fined heavily to deter them in future.

Above all, I hope the authorities concerned will read this letter and take the required action to reduce the noise pollution in the City.

Thank you.

Yours sincerely,
Aditi

Subject Frequent power cuts in V.I.P. Road, Guwahati.

Sir/Madam

Through the columns of your esteemed daily, I want to draw the attention of the authorities of Guwahati about frequent power cuts in our locality.

It is barely for 3 hours during the day that the residents have uninterrupted power supply. Frequent and long power cuts 3-4 times a day leave most homes in darkness in the evening. Recently there have been cases of voltage fluctuations resulting in damage to electrical appliances. Subsequently, they also charge the full amount in the electricity bill.

In conclusion, it is suggested that the ASEB should provide us with connections from the new power house which is hardly 200 metres away from this colony.

Thank you.

Yours sincerely,
Nisha

Subject Rash driving by bus drivers

Sir/Ma’am

Through the columns of your esteemed newspaper, I want to draw the attention of the concerned authorities to the rash driving by the bus drivers, which puts a risk on thousands of people’s lives.

It is high time to take proper steps to stop the incidents of rash driving that we observe in the city every day. I am a regular traveler from Noida to Delhi by bus. I have been witnessing these rash driving by the bus drivers almost daily.

These reckless drivers carelessly put lives of many people at risk on a daily basis. They break all kinds of traffic rules, do not adhere to speed limits, do not care about traffic lights, etc. The DTC needs to take immediate action against these drivers. Despite repeated requests and warnings by various passengers, these drivers have turned a deaf ear to the passengers’ requests. These kinds of drivers should be issued a very serious warning. If they still do not listen, these drivers should be cancelled.

I hope you will publish my letter in your esteemed newspaper so that this matter is brought to the attention of the concerned authority.

Thank you.

Yours sincerely,
Pritam

Sir/Ma’am

Through the columns of your esteemed newspaper, I want to express my feelings about the book fair that took place in Maidan, Kolkata. I want to encourage people to go and enjoy the sight with their own eyes next time.

The International Kolkata Book Fair that took place in Maidan, Kolkata recently was very wonderful. It was amazing to see so many books at display on a variety of subjects. Different publishers, including some foreign publishers, had set up their stalls. A variety of books on diverse subjects were available at heavy discounts. A large crowd visited the book fair and publishers were encouraging people to buy their books.

It was really a pleasure to see people’s enthusiasm to buy books. These days there is a craze for eBooks, still people buying books which they can read sitting anywhere in the house is amazing. It shows that books still hold relevance and importance.

Books are better because they give you a sense of being real and still escaping to a different world as you study it. eBooks on the other hand do not feel or give us the joy that real books give Thus, modern technology and the internet cannot stop people from buying books.

Thank you.

Yours sincerely,
Pooja
